Family Climbing

The kids have been wanting to see where Shawn and I (and Jonas) have been spending our time, so after we got back from Snowbird on Labor Day, we took the whole family to the climbing gym.  The girls were all just a bit nervous on their very first climb up, but that was about all it took.  Shawn, Jonas and I never even got a chance to climb ourselves because we were so busy belaying the girls who just couldn't get enough.  (Poor picture quality, but only had the phone with us and poor lighting - this is the best we could do.)
Amelia was pretty fearless, and in fact only quit when we dragged her out of there because everyone else was done.  She has a little spider man in her - she scrambles up the wall whether she has foot holds or not.
Samantha was pretty nervous at first, but once she climbed up and realized it was safe, she just kept going, too.  She's been asking if she can get up early one morning to go with Shawn and me before school.
Megan's favorite part was definitely climbing to the top of a wall and honking the horn.  We had to encourage her to climb other places that didn't offer that opportunity just so it wouldn't make everyone crazy.  But she loved it, too.

And poor little Peter kept asking if he could please have one of the belts (harnesses) so he could climb.  (It just didn't seem worth the money for a 3 year old.)  He tried tying the rope around himself a couple of times and then finally just gave up on that and started climbing the walls without it.
Maybe next time we'll go ahead and put him in a harness.  I think he's ready.
I was pretty sure that everyone would like it, but I was a little surprised at how much they all liked it.  With that many climbers it was sure nice to have 3 of us certified to belay -  the girls were all climbing the whole time we were there - only taking breaks to move to another wall and get tied on. This will definitely be a repeat activity.
