Cake Boss Junior

After a couple weeks of great anticipation, the big cake decorating day finally arrived.  Grandma Cathy picked Samantha up at about 1:00 and they were off for the entire afternoon.  (Literally hours spent doing nothing but decorating cakes.)  You can see how happy she is to spend her time this way.

*Warning: lots of pictures that may not interest anyone other than grandparents.

Cathy had baked all of the different sized cakes and cupcakes earlier in the day.
Samantha clearly had a bit of a plan before she started.

 Preparing all of her layers.

 Samantha's "saucy" look.

Do you see all of the dishes and cake mess?  I'm glad this was happening at Cathy's house and not mine.  (Sorry Cathy.)
Once all of the buttercream part was done, she moved on to the fondant portion of her decorating.

 Still having fun...
She loved the gold spray coloring she got to use.

As per her usual, she couldn't do this without making a mess of herself.  This only took about 3 days to wear off.

 And more buttercream...

She made a "Posiedon" cake - all part of her latest obsession - the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

The nearly finished product, complete with fish on top.  She also decorated a cupcake for each of us.
I'm exhausted just looking at all of the pictures.  Kudos to Grandma Cathy for being willing to spend  her entire day on this project with Samantha!

Manthie, I think you need your own blog. Let's name it the Cake Princess and/or the Fancy Froster. What do you think?
