Easter Egg hunt or Birthday Week Part 3

So technically, it wasn't anyone's birthday today, but it just so happened that Easter fell on Peter's birthday this year, which is of course, part of birthday week, so we had to throw in some Easter celebrating into the mix as well.

The kids were up bright and early Saturday morning looking for their Easter baskets.  (We always request Saturday visits from the Easter Bunny just to keep Sunday a little more focused on the spiritual side of Easter.)
Peter found his pretty quickly...

...and dug right in to the candy.
Jonas was the next one to locate his basket - after quite a bit of searching.  The Easter Bunny was pretty tricky this year.
The whole family was excited that Jonas had this movie in his basket.  We all loved it.

Megan almost lost hope, but finally found her basket.
Peter and Jonas were totally mesmerized by the Newton's Cradle and the little drip thingy that I can't remember the name of.

When it was almost time for the Easter egg hunt to start, Samantha and Amelia still hadn't found their baskets and Amelia was definitely getting a little upset about it.
Goofy kids - waiting for Jonas.

Ah, there he is - and Mom, too.
The little kids were waiting very patiently for the egg hunt to start.

With a little help from Shawn, Samantha found her basket just before the hunt started.  (So did Amelia, but they didn't have time to pose with their baskets before heading out the door to find eggs.)
And they're off!  (Each child to their own yard - labeled with different colored flags for different ages.)
Jonas went as Peter's helper.
Love this photo.
Everyone was quick to find neighborhood friends.

(At least when they weren't too busy finding eggs.)

Jonas was clearly a big help to Peter.  (It doesn't look like there was much competition in this yard.)

Success!

Wonder how long it took for someone to find this one in the tree?
The best part about this photo, is not actually that Emma's eyes are closed, but the part where you can see the box pierced with arrows hanging from our tree.  Seems a little redneck to me, but I guess that's how we roll.

Checking out their haul and comparing treats.

Chatting with neighbors and enjoying food.

Playing with friends.  Just another reminder why we love this neighborhood!

Emma, Mary and Samantha enjoying some breakfast treats.

Neighbors everywhere.
Just so you can have a closer view of our eye sore.
And then back inside to check it all out and make any necessary trades.  Apparently, the Easter Bunny and the Easter egg hunt treated everybody right.

It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day.  Prime opportunity to experiment with the new camera some more - and play in the teepee.

So warm, apparently that Amelia needed a swim suit and sunscreen.
I don't know about you, but sunshine makes me happy.

Meanwhile...

For Amelia's birthday, Samantha got her ears pierced!  She and her friend Emma were begging for a ride to the mall.  (When did I get old enough to have kids that want to hang out at the mall?!  Oh yeah, I'm forty now.)
Somehow between my Mom (who was at the house to pick up Amelia for her birthday lunch date), Samantha's friend Emma, and me, we convinced Samantha that it wouldn't be that painful, and with lots of anxiety, she finally agreed to do it.
She practically squeezed the stuffing out of that poor bear...

Even at this point, she wasn't entirely convinced that it was a good idea, but she was excited to choose new earrings to wear afterwards.  I thinks she was happy to have it done after it was all over with, but had worried so much about it for so long, that it took her sometime to get used to the idea.
She and Emma went to Build-A-Bear to make twin bears.
As soon as they were done there, they couldn't get rid of me fast enough.  Apparently, being seen with me is really embarrassing, but walking around the mall with bunny ear hats isn't?  Hmm.  Go figure.  Either way, they are way to grown up for me.
Somewhere between breakfast dates, shopping, lunch dates, trips to the mall, and present opening, we fit in a water polo game.  (Amelia's birthday was a very busy day for all of us.)

(Loving that my new camera captures all of the water droplets in mid air.)

It's a good thing I love water polo as much as I do, because it sure takes up a lot of our time.
