Samantha played in a harp and handbell concert earlier today. It was really cool. Harps are cool and handbells are cool, so together, they're awesome. The whole family enjoyed it. (That's always a win.)
After the concert, we told the kids we were taking them somewhere but didn't tell them where. (They hate that.) Since we had already gone to see the lights at Temple Square we decided to go see the windows at the Grand America - something we've never done before. The kids were each given a card and a pencil and they had to answer a question about each window they saw.
We all thought the enormous gingerbread house was cool. It took 40 cooks, an executive pastry chef, a pastry chef and 2 chef de parties (whatever those are) 693 hours to finish it, using 1200 pounds of flour, 400 pounds of sugar, 1200 eggs, 160 quarts of molasses, 800 pounds of powdered sugar, 1500 gum balls, 600 candy canes, 200 pounds of rice krispy treats, 200 pounds of isomalt and 25 pounds of chocolate. Those must have been some enormous mixing bowls.
I wouldn't say that the windows were spectacular, but it was fun to look at the details and it was inside so we were warm and dry, plus we all got chocolate at the end after turning in the cards. We could probably be talked into doing it again next year.

Look at you, getting all caught up! I'll have to check my photos from Thanksgiving and send them if I have any!
