We are not above using bribery occasionally to get our kids to do things. (I'm sure the parenting experts out there cringe at that, but hey, if it works...)
Apparently Shawn told Samantha that he would pay her 20 bucks if she would take her friend Emma swimming 10 times, and he offered Emma 20 bucks to take Samantha running 10 times. (Playing to their strengths of course, since Samantha is not a runner at all, and Emma isn't a swimmer.)
They dubbed the challenge "Rich n' Fit." Today was the first day. They honestly spent almost as much time planning what to wear as they did on actual exercise.
Shawn snapped these photos of them warming up and stretching before they were headed out on their run.
Three miles to the pool, only to find out the pool was closed. Of course, because they had worked so hard, they were sure that they needed to stop and get shakes to eat. A little mid-workout snack I guess. Shawn took them to Sports Mall to get their swim in. Of course, it was also a perfect opportunity to pose in their fancy outfits. (Seriously, even the bows in their hair match. I can't imagine bothering with a bow in my hair when I go out to run, but I'm not 12 either.)
Then it was time to swim laps.
They both seemed to have fun, although Samantha still isn't sold on the whole running thing. Should be interesting to see how long it takes them to complete this challenge since they are both so busy, they can only manage to get together every couple of weeks...
