Samantha had the opportunity to attend a Master class with a visiting jazz harpist. It was so good for her. She struggles a bit with the repetition that comes with the suzuki method, and having the opportunity to learn how to "jazz" up some of her music was very refreshing for her. After the class, Shawn took her to the Harp House to look at all of the harps they had brought in for the weekend. She fell in love with this one.
Now if only she could figure out how to raise several thousand dollars, it could be hers.
The visiting jazz harpist also put on a concert on Sunday night, which Samantha was thrilled to go to. So was I. Park Stickney is very entertaining and watching what he does on the harp is fascinating - especially after seeing mostly just classical performances on the harp. Initially, I didn't have any huge desire to go to the concert, but after attending Samantha's class and hearing him perform "Bohemian Rhapsody" on the harp, I was hooked and decided to go as well. Lots of fun. I hope we will have the chance to hear him again sometime.
