It's not every day that you get to see a peacock (OK, a peahen) sitting on the telephone wires on your walk home from school. But this is what Peter and I saw. That's a pretty big bird to be hanging around up there.
Peter's preschool teacher does a monthly field trip with the kids (and parents.) This is the perfect time of year to go up the canyon. The colors were absolutely amazing.
First, we went on a little hike to pick up leaves and things.
Then Mandy read Leaf Man to the kids. Then they each made their own leaf picture with all the things they had collected. (Of course we finished up with a snack of delicious homemade gingersnaps and apple cider.)
There's just not much that can beat fall in the mountains!
