We live in the best neighborhood. No, really, it's true. We have so many fun parties and activities and such great neighbors. At Halloween, we have the big neighborhood pumpkin carving party. The house and especially the garage are decorated to the hilt with some of the coolest/creepiest Halloween stuff there is. We have a big dinner, tables and all sorts of carving implements are provided and then there is voting for the best pumpkins at the end and the winners walk off with trophies. It is an absolute favorite.
Then, when the kids go trick-or-treating, they know that 2 houses up they will get a full sized candy bar, and 2 houses down, they can stop and rest to watch Halloween cartoons while enjoying a bag of popcorn. There's the haunted garage and nachos, and the house where they pick up homemade doughnuts. (It's no wonder they love it so much. Maybe if I went out with them, I'd be more excited about it, too.) And then we have some neighbors who take this holiday really seriously. Every year, they start months in advance to pick a new theme and build all sorts of creations in their yard to go with it. This year was nursery rhymes.
This is poor Humpty after one of Bo Peep's sheep knocked him off the wall.
This is Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater's house. Inside you will also find Mother Hubbard's cupboard and peas porridge in the pot 9 days old.
Here are Jack and Jill after they fell down the hill.
Peter is sitting on Miss Muffet's tuffet, although he's not eating any curds and whey. But clearly, along comes a spider...
Ah, here's Mother Hubbard's cupboard and the disgusting looking green peas porridge hot or cold but definitely 9 days old.
There was also the cow jumping over the moon, and the cat and the fiddle and so on.
It's just a regular party around here all the time. Like I said, we live in the best neighborhood.
