Florida part 2

I have been wanting to try stand up paddle boarding since we were in Hawaii last year. It just looked so fun, not to mention being a great core and arm work out. So we rode our bikes downtown where we found a place to rent a paddle board and headed to the beach. I was right. It was fun. (And fortunately, quite a bit easier than surfing, although that was fun, too.) We both had a great time paddling around.

You'll have to ignore the water drops on the camera case. It's a bummer when you go to view your pictures and find that they are all obscured by water droplets.

And, of course, more sunsets.

The beaches had some of the softest sand I have ever felt. It felt so good to walk on it. And since it was white, it didn't get hot and burn your feet. (I kept thinking that this would be a great place to come with young kids because you don't have the big huge waves, the water is warm and the sand is soft and cool.) There were lots of good shells to be found, too. Shawn found tons of sand dollars in the water but since they were still alive, we left them there. (Just ask me or my younger siblings (Matt) what happens if you try to take, oh say, a live starfish, home from the beach. It isn't pretty - and the smell is even worse.)

He may not have the whole world in his hands, but definitely the sun.
We were sending pictures to the kids - that's where this one came from.
Enjoying one last sunset before heading back to the bleak, cold wintry world of home.

Oh, it was so nice to get away from everything for a while - especially the cold. Being in the warmth and sun, at the beach, without all of the "stuff" that has to be done at home was so rejuvenating. And it's always nice to just spend time alone with your spouse. That doesn't happen much at home. Let's hope it can get me through to summer!
