Note to self: one of these years, try to remember to boil at least 6 extra eggs, right from the beginning, since you will need them to replace the 1 or 2 that crack in the pot, and the 2 or 3 that inevitably are dropped by little hands, or that roll off of the counter.
And probably the best part of all - filling the plastic eggs with candy. Had to keep everyone focused on putting the candy into the eggs and not their mouths.
Peter loved participating. He kept picking up 2 eggs and banging them together, or trying to open them and dump them out.
Then he kept busy picking up the eggs and putting them in a bag. You could tell he was very proud of himself.
This is such a fun tradition that our neighbors, the Davis' put on every year. We are required to send 6 real eggs and 6 plastic eggs per child, the night before. (Yep, that puts me at 2 dozen real eggs this year.) Then the older kids in the neighborhood get to hide all of the eggs in different yards. They put up different colored flags in different yards so each age group gets to search in their own spots. (It limits the competition a bit, and the younger kids get much easier hiding places.) There are probably 2 or 3 yards for each age group.

So far, every year my kids come home with far more eggs than we send. This year we sent a lot of extra plastic eggs. I'm hoping fewer of them make it home.
